The Bjerre Family

www.Bjerre.net

Inspired by the 100th anniversary celebration, my brother Niels Bjerre (1820) ensured that the family name would be on the internet by reserving "www.Bjerre.net" for the Bjerre family.

What can it be used for? The Board of Directors hopes that it can provide everyone with a quick and more informal means of contact, together with the possibility of strengthening relationships between the different branches of the family. The homepage can be a tool for finding addresses, e-mails, and many other inquiries. The possibilities on the internet are infinite - for example, there can be a guestbook where one can come with ideas and comments. There can be news and chat-rooms, that among other things can provide the possibility for the young to have a new forum where they can meet.

Pictures and documents can be scanned. Old "Brevduen" and memorabilia about the family can be input. In the long term, a portion of the family register can be presented together with update forms, so that the family register will always be up to date. Everyone can contribute information and material about their family. In this way, one will build an exciting and unique family book. Links to Bjerre familys' own home pages will make "www.Bjerre.net" both useful and interesting. Homepages will make it possible for estranged relatives to find information about the family in cyberspace. Today the internet is the best place to find information if one doesn't have direct contact with the family in Denmark.

We could go on, but for all this to occur it would be wonderful if there were members with knowledge of the internet and a desire to be a part of this, who have ideas for graphics or a desire to key in information. We will form a group of those interested, hopefully both young and old.

Since the home page should ideally be self-financed, and since the domain name and website costs about 2500 kr. in simple fees, we will offer e-mail addresses under "Bjerre.net". You receive your e-mail address for life, so you are free to change internet providers without changing addresses. You decide for yourself what should proceed "@Bjerre.net". The price is 150 kr. per year, payable together with your annual membership.
