Welcome to the Bjerre Family Society

With this homepage, the Family Society hopes to reach out to Bjerres who would like to hear about their family, and to others who through this site can find inspiration to work for their own family.

Who can be a member?

"Members can include anybody who belongs to the Bjerre family, is descended from Store Bjerre in Sir (near Holstebro), or anyone who is married to a family member".

What is the purpose?

The Society's duty is to preserve solidarity between family members and to cherish the family's memories.

This is achieved by:

a)  Holding family meetings, normally every 4 years.

b)  The publication of the family roster, to include updates after a suitable

passing of years.

c)  The collection of family memories and publication of same in the form

 of books and pamphlets.

d)  The annual publication of members' writings (Brevduen).

e)  And lastly, providing a link between family members in the best

possible mode while safeguarding the interests of the family where

possible and judged necessary, for example the safeguarding of

 family graves.

Bjerre Reunions

The twenty-fifth Bjerre Reunion was held in 1998 in Holstebro, on the 100th anniversary of the first reunion.

The reunion began at Sir Lyngbjerg (at the memorial stone) with a church service, followed by a visit to the family farm Store Bjerre.  Then an evening party in Majrup Hall with a general meeting, banquet, speeches, and dancing.  Also included was an art exhibit and display of other products from family members.  Total participants numbered 450.

The next Bjerre Reunion will be held in 2002.
